About Me I am Nicola Williams and I am a fully qualified, fully insured Solicitor with over 15 years experience in family law. I am also fully regulated by the Law Society and my membership can be checked on the Law Society website www.lawsociety.org.uk I was admitted as a Solicitor eleven years ago and have specialised in divorce and relationship breakdown ever since.
I began working in family law as a legal clerk in between finishing my law degree and beginning my Legal Practice Course post graduate qualification in 1992. I became a trainee Solicitor in 1994 at Forshaws in Warrington and was trained there by Patrick Wheeler, and Michael Peake both now full time District Judges.
In November 2001 I set up my own practice in Cheadle. In 2004 the premises were converted into apartments and I relocated to West Didsbury where I also live with my husband and three children.
I have one simple rule when it comes to Client care:-
Treat everyone the way you would want to be treated”.
That means that every client will be treated with courtesy, respect and honesty.
If you feel that you are not treated in this way I want to know.
I attend the necessary training courses each year to update my knowledge and improve the quality and standard of advice offered by me.
Some people might wonder whether it is “safe” to use a sole practitioner. I have worked for large firms in the past and decided that I wanted to offer something new to clients.
There’s nothing new in the quality and standard of advice I give. But I am free to manage the service I provide and make it more efficient and more cost-effective.
Professional legal advice is not cheap to provide, but it can be made more cost-effective if the service is run more efficiently and if clients understand what is required of them to progress their case.
Because I specialise in Family law, I have formed close relations with other practices who carry out work related to mine, such a conveyancing and Will drafting. I have found that in this way, my clients have a better choice of who they employ to carry out this aspect of their case-work.
If clients prefer to follow my recommendation they can do so. If they have an existing contact that they may have used before, I won’t be offended if they take their other business to them.
Discrimination in my business will not be tolerated, whether that be on the basis of gender, race or creed. I do not presently have wheelchair access at my office, although it is located on the ground floor. However the toilet facilities are located on the first floor which may pose difficulties for some clients. I apologise for this and as soon as I can address this issue, I will do so.
I hope that you will find the information on this website useful.
If you wish to arrange to use my service please contact me by telephone or email for further details .
